The College of Hydraulic Science and Engineering (HSE) of Yangzhou University is established in June 2013 by integrating the academic resources of former School of Hydraulic Science and Engineering and School of Energy and Power Engineering. The teaching and main research facilities of HSE are located in the beautiful Jiangyang road south campus, 2 km to the Yangzhou city downtown.

HSE offers 4 BS programs, 2 MS programs, 2 MEng programs, and 2 PhD programs, all of which are highly accredited nationally. There are 2 post-doctoral program supported by HSE. Currently, 2230 undergraduate students and 432 graduate students are enrolled full time.

There are 136 full time faculty members in HSE. Some of our professors are endowed by special funding from government and national ministries. Additionally, more than 80 external experts from academia and industries are contributing to broaden our visions in both research and teaching.

With a commitment to providing high quality education to our engineering students, HSE is actively seeking innovative and transformative education approaches by taking the advantages of its leading research in national hydraulic and smart grid projects. A number of courses are recognized as the “Featured Engineering Courses” by the Ministry of Education. HSE provides its students the state-of-the-art teaching facilities including more than 60 teaching labs and more than 10 open design labs. Over 40 training bases are established with our industry partners to enrich hand-on engineering experiences for our students. In recent five years, 30% of the students have been admitted to graduate school, and 100% of the students have attained engineering positions in public sectors and industries. HEP awards more than 10 types of scholarships to students on yearly basis to promote excellence in undergraduate and graduate study.

HSE faculty members have participated in numerous scientific research projects such as NSF-China, National 863 Program, National 973 Program, and industry R&D projects, etc. Annual research expenditures for HSE exceed 20 million RMB for the year 2017. The research achievements of HSE are highly recognized by the provincial and state council with more than 30 awards granted to our research teams.

HSE has established worldwide partnership with universities in USA, UK, France, Netherlands, Australia, Italy, Germany, Denmark, and Japan etc. Meanwhile, the students can benefit from the active exchange programs with the international partner institutions.
